The Food Assistance for Refugees Program provides sustained, dignified food support to newly arrived refugees who have lost access to federal nutrition benefits (SNAP). Through the program, Homes Not Borders delivers food directly to the family for six months (typically two deliveries a month), with each delivery supplying a full week of culturally relevant food tailored to the household’s size. 

We partner with a local Afghan market for discounts on staples, and we receive donated produce from So What Else, and donated spices via Penzey's. We also partner with the IRC and other employment specialists to help refugees find higher income jobs to support their families once the six months is over.

HNB distributes approximately 2,000 pounds of food each week—an average of 125 pounds per family—using our extensive volunteer network to pack and distribute food directly to refugee households. Each delivery also includes a resource flyer listing local food pantries and meal programs, with translations available in six primary refugee languages to ensure accessibility.
