Woodworking / Furniture Making Workshops
Most newly arrived refugees struggle to earn enough to support their families, so we offer these individuals a way to earn supplemental income and learn a new skill.
We offer refugees a chance to learn the skills of woodworking and furniture making through a six-week course taught by trained professionals. Once they complete the course, they can sign up for shop time (at a minimal cost) and start making their own pieces with donated lumber, or refinishing other furniture. Homes Not Borders will also help them sell the new items, with the refugee keeping all the profits.
This also helps our Home Set Up Team, which often gets donated furniture that needs a little TLC.
